This playful, abstract pig was carved from a block of Persian red travertine stone, a material with an unpredictable patterning of holes and a rich variety of colours throughout. The surface texture has retained the chisel marks and the holes in the travertine; only the snout, tail and the tips of the ears are clearly defined and polished to any degree. The sculpture rotates, via a pin in its base, enhancing the playful element of the pose.
