NYC has a variety of different styles of manholes throughout the five boroughs; the City of New York Department of Parks & Recreation has their own featuring the maple leaf. This old beauty in Riverside Park on the Upper West Side of Manhattan is dappled in autumn sunlight and shadow.
Parks & Recreation was awarded Best in Show at the Art Students League of New York’s Concours Red Dot Exhibition in April 2020. Elizabeth made the painting while working in New York weeks before the first Covid 19 lockdown.
