This watercolour painting shows the view from The Design Tower in 2013. It is the third in a series of the same view, previously painted in 2006 and 2004, capturing the ever changing landscape of 19th and 20th Century industrial mills and warehouses undergoing gradual conversion into offices and apartments. This 2013 version includes two of Dublin’s tallest buildings, the sixteen story Alto Vetro apartment block on the left, and on the right Google’s European headquarters, lending the area the name Silicone Dock. The Waterways Ireland Visitor Centre, also knows as the Box on the Docks, sits prominently in the foreground.
