Commissioned by Belfast City Council, 2004.
Fervent campaigner for the rights of Belfast’s women, children and poor, for the abolition of slavery and the revival of Irish music, language and poetry. She was the sister of Henry Joy McCracken, executed leader of United Irishmen. McCracken is depicted in the hay day of her campagining and social reform work.
The bronze bust is located in the first floor Rotunda of Belfast City Hall and can be seen on daily walking tours of the building.
The original terracotta bust was donated to Clifton House, Belfast, where McCracken worked; it is located in their entrance foyer and can be seen on their daily tours.
